Greenstead Genetics combines reproductive performance and carcase excellence in Angus composite cattle bred and proven in a natural, certified organic grass-fed environment in South West Queensland.
The bulls are bred within a commercial cow herd and run under the same conditions in which their progeny are expected to perform. The breeding program is focused on improving the profitability of commercial beef herds by producing cattle that are low cost to run and high value to sell.
Selection targets fertile, efficient and early maturing cattle, with moderate frame and weight for age needed to meet market specifications.
Females are run under consistent selection pressure regardless of the season:
Yearling heifers are joined for 6 weeks and must wean a calf. There are no second chances.
Cows are joined for 8 weeks and must deliver a weaner every 12 months to remain in the herd.
Only the top 5% of male calves are retained as bulls. Selection considers fertility, structural soundness, temperament, phenotype, homozygous polled (PP), scrotal size and weight. The bulls are grown entirely on grass and presented in working condition.

From tight joining periods and early puberty selection to RePRO BI genomics and MSA carcase feedback, the Greenstead Genetics program is focused on cattle that produce more profit from grass.
Greenstead Grazing was recognized as a Queensland Top 100 Producer in the 2025 MSA Excellence in Eating Quality Awards.
