The Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association

Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association (NTCA) held its 24th Annual Conference on March 28 in Alice Springs.

The event focused on the future of beef production in Northern Australia and the challenges of changing global and domestic economic conditions and climate change.

The conference was a major industry event that brought together producers from Alice Springs to Darwin to discuss international beef markets.

Leadership Transition: Rohan Sullivan served as the Katherine Branch Chair through 2008 before becoming the NTCA President in 2009.

Ponderosa Brahman Bull Sale 2010

Traditionally, the Ponderosa Brahman Bull Sale is held in Katherine, Northern Territory (NT), However, it is heavily supported by Queensland-based studs, particularly the Raglan Brahman Stud (Raglan, QLD) and Viva Brahman Stud (Middlemount, QLD), which frequently transport large drafts of bulls to Katherine for this event.

The 2010 Milestone: The 2010 sale would have been approximately the 11th Annual Ponderosa Brahman Bull Sale, given that the 16th was held in 2015 and the 20th in 2019.

During this period (2010–2012), the Australian Brahman Breeders Association reported a total bull average of approximately $4,332 with a gross value of over $14 million for the industry.
