Historic Village Herberton

Well I’ve done it again been travelling up around the Tablelands for the last 25 years I have passed through Herberton on many occasion I did call-in to the village early 90s but if you’ve been there you’ll know what I’m talking about.

I suggest you’re put this on your bucket list allow yourself at least a couple of days this is a place you won’t regret going to, so much memorabilia and antiques for you to see.

Just see if you can find I took a photo of some rosemary that was bought back from Gallipoli as a cutting and planted in the village.

Set on 16 acres, the Historic Village Herberton is a tin mining town with shops, pub, bank, chemist, grocer, printer and garage.

There are more than 50 restored period buildings making this outdoor museum the most significant in Queensland.

Plan to spend the day or two and take your time taking in thousands of genuine antiques, Australian collectibles, vintage machinery and vehicles and more.

Working exhibits are brought to life during school holidays and on some weekends.

The Historic Village Herberton is a 90-minute drive from Cairns

The Bakerville Tearooms is housed in a 1900s building that was once a pub.

It is open daily and has plenty of seating.

The Tearooms offer tasty snacks and locally made icecream, morning and afternoon tea as well as main meals.

THIS IS A MUST SEE ON THE BUCKET LIST
